Vaccines for Puppies & Dogs

Give your dog the best possible chance with essential vaccinations.

All pet parents have one thing in common; the love they have for their pets. You would do everything in your power to protect them and that’s why pet parents choose to vaccinate. Vaccines are an easy way to ensure your pet isn’t affected by diseases. Each vaccine has gone through several trials to ensure its safety.

Which vaccines does my puppy/dog need?

The vaccines your pet may need are divided into two categories: core and non-core. Core vaccines are mandated by law and all canine friends need those vaccines. They are essential because without them your pet could catch deadly diseases that spread easily. Core vaccines include rabies, canine distemper, canine hepatitis and canine parvovirus. Non-core vaccines are recommended as seen fit by a veterinarian. Some non-core vaccines are bordetella and leptospirosis.

Do senior dogs still need to be vaccinated?

Yes! Most vaccines are effective for a period of time which is why your pet will need booster shots. This means that puppy vaccinations only protect your pet for a limited time. Your veterinarian will determine how frequently your pet needs booster shots. To have your adult or senior pet vaccinated, please reach out to us at 705-434-2226.

Will my puppy or dog have side effects after receiving their shot?

Some pets may experience side effects after they’ve been vaccinated. The symptoms are mild and usually clear up within 24 hours. Your pet may seem lethargic, have a fever, loss of appetite or diarrhea.
